If the democrats want to secure their 2020 gains they’re going to need a new plan

This time Trump won’t be around to scare voters into voting blue. Democrats need to respond with policies that have changed American’s lives. Can they pass enough legislation in time?

2020 should have been a landslide for democrats and it wasn’t. It took the miracle that is Stacey Abrams to get a 50 seat (plus Kamala Harris) majority in the Senate and Democrats lost ground in the House. Not being Trump was enough to deliver Biden to the White House but in 2022 democrats won’t have Trump as a foil to win seats across the nation. Now is the time to double down on a policy that helps everyday working Americans and show that blue leadership is better than red leadership at the national level.

Pass legislation between now and then

Promoting legislation passed by the Biden administration between 2021 and the 2022 election will be the foundation of keeping the House and getting a real Senate majority. The Senate map is favorable for Democrats in 2022 but the House is more difficult. Democrats lost 9 House seats in 2020, an election where they won at the top of the ticket. 2020 should have been a landslide and it wasn’t. Democrats can’t depend on the popularity of Joe Biden is carry them through the mid-terms.
